Commercial Work
This is an almost complete list of commercial projects I worked on as freelancer/part timer during my university years:
- Sacred and Sacred Underworld - A very successful action RPG with more than 2 million units sold worldwide. I single-handedly developed the complete server side system aside from the game server itself, i.e. the lobby server. Among it’s duties were online authentication, online savegames (or cloud storage as they would call it today), chat, matchmaking and buddylists with private messaging.
- Sacred 2 - I was part of the tinCat team, we provided the middleware for network communication, the online lobby and a system for remote game server deployment and management. We also worked directly on the game during the last crunch leading up to release.
- RIM: Battle Planets - A round based strategy game. I mainly wrote the AI and did some UI and tool development
- 1914: The Great War - Another round based strategy game on the same engine. So again, AI, UI and tools.
- Starship Catan - I remember working on the menus and the matchmaking system.
- Crossroads: Grüne Welle - I’m listed as module developer there. Can’t remember what kind of module that might have been. Hm.
- There might be others where code of mine was directly or indirectly used.
